Curve spreads

Also written 2s10s, 5s30s, 3M/10Y, butterfly, fly, yield curve.

The 10-year Treasury yield less the 2-year, in basis points. Negative means the curve is inverted.

Definition

The gap between two Treasury yields, in basis points. 2s10s is the 10-year yield less the 2-year; 5s30s is the 30-year less the 5-year; the 3-month to 10-year spread is the 10-year less the 3-month bill. A negative figure means that part of the curve is inverted. The butterfly (2s5s30s) measures the bend in the middle: twice the 5-year less the 2-year and the 30-year.
