Premium

Also written above par.

Definition

A market price above par value. The higher the premium, the more a holder loses if the issuer calls the issue at par; see yield to call.

On a live record

SOMN (The Southern Company) trades at $48.25, a 93.0% premium to par. A call at par would return less than today's price. Open the SOMN record.
